Credits, not subscriptions
Every tier ships the identical feature set: SSO, audit logs, guardrails, and dedicated support are never paywalled. Tiers differ on exactly two things: the platform fee and your guaranteed throughput. The fee is charged on top of your credit purchase, never skimmed out — buy $1,000 in credits, get $1,000 in credits.

Every row delivers the same $1,000 of usable credits. The platform fee is the only difference, and on Pro it is zero. The fee funds multi-tenancy, billing, governance, and one key across every provider, never the inference itself. The 5.5% figure is OpenRouter's published pay-as-you-go credit fee (June 2026); we cite the public rate, never invent one.
When Pro pays for itself: 4% of $1,250/mo = $50— so if you're spending ~$1,200+/mo on credits, $Pro ($50/mo, 0% fee) pays for itself.

Is there a free tier?
Add your card and load your first $5 in credits — we top it up with a $10 bonus, so you start with $15. One-time offer per account; after that you pay only for what you use, with no subscription required. Route requests, set up guardrails, and invite teammates right away. When you're ready for more, top up from $5 and keep paying only for what you use.
Do I have to subscribe, and what does Pro cost?
No subscription is required. Pay as you go has no monthly fee. Pro is an optional commitment of $50/mo, or $500/yr, for teams that want 0% fee and higher throughput. Those are minimums — commit any higher amount and the full amount still goes to credits at 0%. Either way, 100% of what you pay lands in your credit balance.
What exactly is the platform fee?
A small percentage added on top when you purchase credits. It is never taken out of the credits themselves. Pay as you go is a flat 4% with no minimum fee, Pro is 0%, and Enterprise is custom.
Can I upgrade or downgrade anytime?
Yes. Upgrades are instant. Your new fee rate applies immediately and unused credits carry over. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
What happens when my credits run out?
API requests pause until you top up. Enable auto-topup to automatically replenish your balance when it drops below a threshold — so your services are never interrupted.
Is there a price match guarantee?
Yes. If you find a lower price on any model from another LLM gateway, we'll match it — no questions asked. We're committed to being the most cost-effective gateway on the market.
What are RPM, TPM, and TPS guarantees?
RPM (requests per minute) and TPM (tokens per minute) set your per-key rate limits. TPS (transactions per second) is your sustained concurrent throughput. Pay as you go gets 200 RPM / 10 TPS, Pro gets 1,000 RPM / 50 TPS, Enterprise is fully custom. These are guaranteed minimums. Actual capacity may be higher during low-traffic periods.
